Sometimes making cheap family meals just means serving less things and eating less as well. We often make the mistake of thinking that every meal should look like Thanksgiving dinner and wind up have several side dishes as well as dessert every single night. Have your family get used to a meat and one side dish, and maybe some rolls or other bread. Save dessert for Sunday if even then. Sometimes cheap family meals just mean simple family meals. You can even get creative - serve breakfast items like eggs and toast or pancakes for dinner, or sandwich roll-ups. Personal pizzas can be made with some biscuit dough and a small amount toppings; this is much cheaper than ordering a pizza. So yes, it does take some work and effort to come up with ideas for cheap family meals but it can be done if you’re determined. In the long run you may find that these meals are not only nutritious and delicious but are saving your family literally hundreds if not thousands of dollars off your grocery bill each year!
